The perfect combination of a visit to the trade fair and leisure: the Sheraton Hanover Pelikan Hotel
With just 500,000 inhabitants, Hanover is not a major metropolis. Once a year however, it becomes the heart of the computer world when CeBit, the world's biggest computer fair, comes to town. Hanover really knows how best to treat and entertain its international guests, with a wide range of gastronomic and nightlife offerings providing numerous highlights. At our hotel you can find out all the necessary information, plus useful insider tips.
Hanover will impress visitors with its great restaurants offering both regional and international cuisine. Perhaps your stay with us will coincide with spring. If so, we recommend the excellent asparagus from the Burgdorfer Land region.
If you are still tempted into the city at night time, there are elegant bars such as Blattgold or Oscar´s to be discovered. There are also numerous rustic pubs and modern clubs, such as Acanto or 3raum at the Ballhof just crying out for a visit.
For those who prefer to spend their free time in a more laid back way, the Herrenhausen Gardens are a little piece of paradise. They are home to some of the most beautifully preserved Baroque gardens, complete with a variety of trick and decorative fountains. For nature lovers, there is the Eilenriede city park. At 650 hectares, it is the largest city forest in Europe, offering almost boundless wilderness, with large areas of untamed nature with rare plant varieties and species of animals.
The best view of Hanover and its beautiful surrounding area can be had from the Neues Rathaus, or New Town Hall, a magnificent, palatial building from the Wilhelmine era. The viewing platform on top of the almost 100-metre high dome provides visitors with a fantastic view over the city and almost as far away as the Harz mountains.
A very popular leisure excursion is to Marienburg Castle, located between Hanover and Hildesheim. It is one of the most important neo-Gothic buildings in Germany, with its sumptuous furniture, splendid paintings and historical treasures. Hanover Adventure Zoo, the only one of its kind in Europe, is also an inviting place to pay a visit to. The zoo can be found in close proximity to our hotel. Additionally, a private visit to the trade fair grounds or the university is also worthwhile.
The mix of cultural offerings, tourist attractions and varied leisure options make it easy to feel right at home in Hanover.
